KishHealth Cancer Care Services

The professional staff at KishHealth Cancer Care Services are here to help cancer patients and their families cope with the effects of this disease. Not only do we offer world-class medical care, but support services are in place to assist after the diagnosis and treatment. There are several types of services available, including assistance with medications, wigs or prosthetic materials; support groups; and therapy programs such as massage, art, or music therapy. Our goal is to heal the whole body and the whole family.

Through Kishwaukee Health Foundation, donations can be made to ensure ongoing care, treatments, and services will be available far into the future. Please consider a contribution towards one of the following funds:

Thebeau Cancer Care Fund
This fund provides treatment, diagnosis, procedures, medications, and/or wigs for qualified DeKalb County patients.

Baack Cancer Care Fund
This fund provides funding for indigent KishHealth System patients who cannot afford to purchase needed complimentary cancer medications to ease physical pain and the side effects of radiation and/or chemotherapy treatments, or medical supplies.

Oncology Support Programs Fund
Provides support for patients and their families, including massage therapy, exercise programs, support groups, stress reduction, art therapy, and music therapy.

Your financial support will help KishHealth Cancer Care Services provide the following programs and support groups to cancer patients and their families:

• Massage Therapy - shown to reduce stress in cancer patients and increase the effectiveness of their treatment

• Healing Expressions - offering participants the opportunity to express feelings, emotions and thoughts about their cancer experience through creative outlets

• Networking Groups - providing an opportunity for individuals with similar experiences due to cancer to give and receive support, and share information

• Music Therapy - offered while patients are being treated to reduce stress and encourage relaxation during cancer treatment

• Future programs - Exercise, QiGong, and Yoga classes to help reduce stress and fatigue and improve strength lost due to side effects from cancer treatment
