Planned Giving : Legacy Society

The Legacy Society has been formed to honor and acknowledge donors who have advised us that they have named Kishwaukee Health Foundation or one of its not-for-profit entities in their will or estate plan. The 21st Century Society has been rolled into this new society.

There are many ways donors may make a gift today that will help further our healthcare mission well into the future.

A planned gift is one that is legally provided for during the donor's lifetime but where the principal benefits may not be given to the organization until a future time, generally at the death of the donor. Planned gifts provide a method for the donor to make a final expression of support to a cause they believe in. Planned giving requires thoughtful preparation and planning, and we encourage anyone considering planned gifts to contact their financial planner for advice.

Examples of planned gift methods include a will, trust, gift annuity, life insurance policy, or retirement fund residual gift. A charitable gift annuity is a contract between the donor and charity whereby the donor gives cash or other assets in return for fixed income payments for the life of the donor.

Some of the possible benefits of planned giving include:

  • emotional benefits of supporting a cause you believe in

  • income tax savings

  • increased spendable annual income

  • capital gains tax savings

  • financial management assistance

To date thirty-three donors have advised us of their planned gifts. Please join them by including a gift to Kishwaukee Health Foundation in your estate plan. And please let us know when you do, so that we may thank you and appropriately acknowledge your gift. Legacy Society members will also be invited to our annual appreciation event.

Planned gifts may be made in honor or memory of friends or a loved one.
