The Valley West Heart of the Hospital Annual Giving Club began in 2004, and to-date over $250,000 has been used to help provide new Birthing Suites and Emergency Department equipment, allowing us to offer the best healthcare available to the community. Future contributions will fund medical and technological advancements, as well as support our unrestricted endowment fund so we can purchase the items needed to offer a state-of-the-art hospital.
Located on the wall in the north entrance lobby (the main lobby), Valley West Community Hospital’s Tree of Life represents gifts to the Heart of the Hospital Giving Club Campaign. This campaign has raised a quarter of a million dollars in just over three years through over 1300 donations. The Tree of Life includes bronze leaves, representing a gift of $100-499; silver leaves, representing gifts of $500-$999; and gold leaves representing gifts of $1,000-$4,999. Stones beneath the Tree represent gifts of $5,000 or more.
There are two charitable Cancer Care funds set up to which you may make online contributions. The Thebeau Charity Cancer Care Fund was created by Bob and Ashley Thebeau on the occasion of his retirement as President and CEO of the KishHealth System. Upon reaching a $50,000 balance, the fund will be used for treatments, diagnosis, procedures, medications, and/or wigs for qualified DeKalb County patients.
The Baack Charity Cancer Care Fund was created as a memorial to Wolfram Baack by his family and friends, and is in place to provide funding for indigent KishHealth System patients who cannot afford to purchase needed complementary cancer medications to ease physical pain and the side effects of radiation and/or chemotherapy treatments, or medical supplies.
Valley West Community Hospital is humbled to accept donations in honor or memory of loved ones. Please call the Kishwaukee Health Foundation office for information, or click to make an online donation as a Memorial Gift/Honorarium.
Nursing Development Fund
Initiated in 2003, the fund was created to provide funding to help underwrite the registration expenses for staff nurses for regional educational conferences, or for application fees for advanced certification programs in specialized clinical fields. Clinical Department annual budgets cannot cover these expenses.
Gifts to the Nursing Development Fund can be directed by the donor to the appropriate Kishwaukee Health System entity.
